Anne Marie Buckley born in Cork moved to New York in 1995. She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, for a period of 4 years.
Her study included an Associate Degree in Applied Science which is the study of shoes, handbags and small leather goods. Diploma in Millinery, Tailoring and Leather Apparel. My passion was awarded by a scholarship from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
She studied with renowned milliners Professor Ann Albrizio, (R.I.P.), Jean Galimard, Patricia Underwood. and Uriel Gustav a shoe master, all having an exacting eye.
In NYC, she took part in fashion shows, sold hats to a number of boutiques in New York City and started Further Retro NYC.
Having relocated back to Ireland in Sept 2001. FRNYC was selling bags by July 2002 to profile boutiques around the country.
Anne Marie re-invented herself with the down turn of the economy and introduced the Irish Millinery School May 2010. The Irish Millinery School, offers programmes specially designed and transition year students in the making of hats, bags and slippers. The Irish Millinery School is looking forward to the future.
The programme is designed for students who want to get involved in hat making or who are considering studying fashion related courses.
This exciting programme is fun, creative and offers a relaxing introduction to the millinery and fashion industries.
The students will develop their skill in pattern making, pattern cutting and pattern construction as well as working with trims.
The students will also develop their knowledge and capabiities in design and construction of the shirred beret and the stylized beret. The students will become skilled in using assorted fabrics for varying design of hats.
